Itinerary
There are so many wonderful islands, beaches, and places to choose from. So where do you go first? Well, you can head off in any direction you want, but many of our guests ask us for at least a weeklong vacation plan. So here we go:
Day 1: Marina Bas du Fort (Gosier)
Depending on the time you arrive at our base in the Marina Bas du Fort, you may wish to head into Pointe-a-Pitre for dinner and a little bit of shopping. Then head back to our quiet base to spend a restful night before you head out in the morning. If you arrive a bit earlier, and still have a few hours of sunlight left, you may decide to sail away to either Ilet Gosier or spend your first night on the boat in a lovely anchorage. It is all up to you.
Day 2: Marina Bas du Fort / Ilet Gosier: 3 NM
Before you depart, the base manager will help you with customs paperwork, inspect your yacht, give you a brief introduction to the cruising area as well as make sure that all of your provisioning needs and special requests have been fulfilled. Embark upon a short sailing trip to Ilet Gosier, a beautiful island of vegetation surrounded by white sand, it’s lighthouse can be seen in the distance.
Day 3: Ilet Gosier / Les Saintes: 20 NM
The geographical diversity and the beauty of this micro archipelago of less than 15 km² is incredible. Bike or walk to the unforgettable view points from the upper hills, and try to not to feel self-conscious about the watchful eyes of the local iguanas, they are harmless and welcoming. Enjoy the magnificent creeks and beaches. Or take the time to visit La Grand-Anse, one of the best beaches on Guadeloupe. It is very large and still secluded, sheltered by many tropical trees, especially palms. The place is ideal either for a swim or a picnic.
Day 4: Les Saintes / Deshaies (Guadeloupe): 28 NM
The most famous anchorage of the Windward coast faces a pretty village with several boutiques and traditional Criole restaurants nicely arranged around its church tower. Take the opportunity to make an excursion to discover the National Park of Basse Terre.
Day 5: Deshaies / English Harbour (Antigua): 43 NM
Antigua, surrounded by coral reefs has an exceptional sea-bottom. It is known as the island of 365 white and pink sand beaches. English Harbour has the richest collection of historic sites in Antigua, including restored buildings, hilltop forts and museums
Day 6: Antigua
Tour the ancient home of Admiral Nelson from the 18th century which has been nicely renovated: Admiral's House Museum. In the evening the steel-bands create a great atmosphere in the bars and restaurants – don't miss it.
Day 7: Antigua / Barbuda: 25 NM
Barbuda offers a coast nearly untouched by construction, lined by endless beaches of white sand surrounded by coral banks. It is a beautiful spot for scuba-diving and snorkeling.
Day 8: Barbuda / St. Barth: 60 NM
Get ready, get set, and embark upon a longer sail from Barbuda to St. Barth today.
Day 9: St. Barth
A stopover in Gustavia, the main town at St. Barth’s, is a good opportunity to taste the cosmopolitan atmosphere in tax free shops and restaurants lining this charming harbor.
Day 10: St. Barth / Tintamarre / Orient Bay (St. Martin): 18 NM
Wake up to breakfast at the anchorage of Tintamarre, a small desert island with a wonderful beach and outstanding snorkeling spots. Sail on to Orient Bay, a long sandy beach (clothing optional) with restaurants and animated bars.
Day 11: Orient Bay / Cole Bay (Sint Maarten): 2 NM
Wake up, breath deep, then take an early morning swim or snorkel and then weigh anchor for a brisk, close hauled sail to the Dream Yacht base at Cole Bay. You’ve had a great adventure, done a lot of sailing, perhaps drank a bit too much, snorkeled too much, laughed and ate too much – but that, for sure, was a week you’ll always remember!
The fact is, there are many, many possible approaches to your vacation. You can head off in any direction you want and spend the time in so many different ways. What you will learn is that, after your first charter, you will want to come back time and time again – there is that much to explore in this gorgeous island paradise.
