What is the difference between Standard and Ocean Class?
In 2004 Catana develop what is called the Ocean Class design, which is essentially a fully outfitted performance Catana with all of the equipment required for serious offshore voyaging. Each Ocean Class comes with top of the line instruments.

Dream Yacht Charter owns and operates the only fleet of bareboat Catana catamarans in the world.
Catana catamarans represent the gold standard for quality, high performance and design. The French based ship yard is the only large scale luxury yacht manufacturer in the world that produces catamarans with dagger boards, which not only make the Catana faster but a lot more fun to sail. It is well known to serious catamaran sailors that Catana catamarans cost at least 30% more to purchase than other catamarans of a similar size. The Catana 50 was named "Best Cruising Multihull" in Cruising World’s 2008 Boat of the Year contest.
Catana Luxury
- Foam sandwich construction in the hulls and deck as well as cored panels and furniture make the Catana both light and beautiful
- Dual helms make sailing truly fun, avoiding the clunky feel of hydraulic steering on cheaper charter cats
The aft cockpit, where you spend most of your time on charter, is larger and more open than on any other catamaran because the main salon is free of a helm station – the windows of the large galley up design open directly into the cockpit and the large sliding glass doors open fully, turning the inside of the boat into the outside and vice versa. There is no more “open feeling” catamaran in the world than a Catana.
Performance
- The Catana is made with higher grade resins and Kevlar glass, making her lighter, stronger, and safer than other brands. Her performance is known the world over.
- The Catana has greater clearance off the water so she is much quieter when sailing in seas of any kind. She will not slap or pound like other charter cats designed to sail well only in flat seas.
The Catana has dual dagger boards, which means that you leave them up at all times when you are sailing off the wind, but drop them into the water when sailing upwind. This improves her performance dramatically on all points of sail. They are very easy to operate and add a level of joy to sailing that you must experience to believe.
Practicality
- On deck, handholds are well located and movement fore and aft and beam to beam is unobstructed.
- Dual helm steering allows sails to be in full view and it makes dockage easier than on any other cat.
- Autopilot to help with steering
- Harkin electric winches to handle the sails
