Why should I charter a bareboat with a skipper?
If you don’t have enough experience to sail by yourself and would like a few professional pointers then you may want to hire a skipper on a per night basis for either the first part or all of your vacation. Your skipper will be happy to review sailing and mooring basics with you as well as point out all of the performance aspects of your yacht.
If your ideal vacation is to sit back, relax, and spend more time sunning and snorkeling with your family and friends than navigating or plotting your next island hop or concerning yourself with the safety of your yacht, then you should consider hiring a skipper for the duration of your trip. Your Dream Yacht Charter skipper will have first-hand knowledge of the sailing area and act as a tour guide, helping you set the agenda for your trip and point out the best restaurants, tourist destinations, moorings, and beaches according to your preferences. Our skippers work 12 months of the year with us and are excellent sailors and tour guides.
What is the daily rate for a skipper?
Daily rates for skippers can range depending on your destination due to a number of factors, including cost of living or sailing conditions. Feel free to ask your charter consultant for the rate for your chosen destination.
What does the rate include? Sail time only?
The fee is per night and for each 24 hour period. It is not sail time only. Your skipper should be provided with his own cabin.
Do I pay for the skipper’s food? How much does that cost? Will he do his own provisioning? Will I pay for his meals ashore or alcoholic beverages?
The charter client pays for the skipper’s food. If you did not (additionally) hire a chef then you must order food (or provision by yourself) for an extra person. You can just add the quantity and the skipper will adapt to your menu.
Bareboat with Hostess/Chef
Forget the pasta and tins! Let yourself be pampered with the freshest fish, tropical fruits, local hot dishes, and cakes. Many of our charter clients say that our chefs provide five-star dining according to your tastes and preferences.
At Dream Yacht Charter, you have two choices for provisioning and hostess/chef service:
- You can hire the hostess/chef at the standard nightly rate for your destination area and you are responsible for ordering the provisioning, either through pre-planning with Dream Yacht Charter or on your own.
- You can choose the FULL BOARD option: you pay the hostess/chef at the standard nightly rate for your destination area and she will be responsible for provisioning for you and your friends and family. You will be asked for your preferences of course. The hostess/chef will choose top quality foods for a five star menu and the value will include soft drinks. (Alcoholic beverages are additional and will be paid for at time of embarkment.) The full board menu option will average from $66 per person per night to service 1-4 guests and $59 per person per night to service 5 + guests.

What does the rate include?
The rate is per night and includes cooking, service during meals, setting and unsetting the table, dish washing, cleaning the kitchen, cockpit and salon; it does not, however, include cleaning the cabins or the heads. Your hostess/chef will require her own room.
Will she do provisioning for me?
When you choose the option of adding a hostess/chef, you are responsible for ordering your provisioning. The hostess/chef will then work with the food and drinks that you have selected.
Where is the provision list?
Due to changes in the economy, provision lists are updated frequently. You can be sent an updated provision list when you request a quote and when you book your bareboat charter with Dream Yacht Charter.
